Concerts. Class parties. Last-minute errands. This time of year moves fast – and supper can start to feel like one more thing on the list. If you need permission to take it easy and choose the simple route this season, this is it!
At Food Sock, we aim to give you meals that meet you where you are: quick, comforting, and ready when you are.
Ready in Minutes
Some nights don’t need chef energy. 😉 They need a plan that works. Here’s how easy your kitchen prep can be:
- Step 1: Boil the kettle.
- Step 2: Add your Food Sock into a pot or pan, add boiling water, and stir.
- Step 3: Dish up and enjoy!
Quick Pairings if You’re Feeling Festive
Keep it simple – add one or two extra ingredients and your supper suddenly feels extra special! Here’s some of our favourite Food Sock pairings this season:
Chicken à la King
Serve with garlic toast and a green salad. Finish with cracked black pepper and a spoon of yoghurt.
Thai Green Curry
Add lime wedges and chopped coriander, with a side of sliced cucumbers for a cool crunch.
Chilli Beef Stew
Add some warm rolls to the table for dipping, top with sliced spring onion or a dash of hot sauce if you like extra heat.
Tomato Bredie
Stir in a spoon of yoghurt and sprinkle with parsley, with quick carrot ribbons on the side.
Pasta Bolognese
Add a handful of grated cheddar and black pepper, and serve with a simple tomato salad.
Chicken & Veg Soup (soya-free)
Finish with parsley and a squeeze of lemon. Add buttered toast soldiers for dunking.
Chicken Breyani
Fluff with a fork, top with fresh tomato–onion sambal and a dollop of yoghurt.
Mac & Cheese
Stir through bacon, fresh cheddar, and finish with a sprinkle of toasted breadcrumbs.
Traditional Melkkos
For a cosy dessert moment – add cinnamon, sugar, or a drizzle of honey to this tasty traditional.
Tangy Fish Stew
Add lemon wedges and chopped dill/parsley, and serve with crusty bread.
A Busy-Season Pantry That Has Your Back
Keep a few grab-and-go bits on hand so supper never derails the evening:
- 6-10 Food Socks (mix mild + bold flavours)
- Frozen veg (peas/mixed veg cook in minutes)
- Bread backups (garlic bread or dinner rolls freeze well)
- Fresh quick-wins (lemons/limes, spring onions, cucumber, tomato)
- Toppers (plain yoghurt, grated cheddar, chutney or pickled peppers)
- Basics (salt, pepper, oil, butter)
Leftovers = Tomorrow’s Win
Food Socks reheat perfectly with a splash of water and a stir! If there’s only a little left, fold it into lunchboxes or add extra stock/water to make a quick soup.
When the Day Runs Long, Choose Care Over Complexity
This season can be full- in the best ways and the busy ones. Choosing an easy meal is still “home-cooked,” still nourishing, and still cares for your people (and for you).
